Updates to Astronomy Textbook Surveys
I endeavor to keep current edition numbers for textbooks in the AER textbooks surveys updated with these simpler tables.
What's happening locally?
Dave Bruning, Associate Professor in the Dept. of Physics at UW-Parkside, participates in a variety of research programs, including concept inventories, and has published research on analytical thinking skill surveys in astronomy and physics courses. He produces the triennial survey of introductory astronomy textbooks found at the Astronomy Education Review and writes the quarterly "Education Matters" column in Mercury magazine (Astronomical Society of the Pacific). Dave was on the advisory board of AER, formerly was on the JCST and AER editorial boards, and is a charter signatory of the Astronomy Education Charter (see AER vol. 6, #2). He has assisted Andy Fraknoi in numerous ASP teacher workshops, moderated the AAS "Black Holes to Blackboards" teacher workshop, assisted at several of the Cosmos in the Classrooms, and was on the organizing committee for the 2007, 2010, and 2013 Cosmos in the Classroom colloquia.
