Updates to Astronomy Textbook Surveys
I endeavor to keep current edition numbers for textbooks in the AER textbooks surveys updated with these simpler tables.

What's happening locally?
Dave Bruning, Distinguished Lecturer in the Dept. of Physics, participates in a variety of research programs and has published research on analytical thinking skill surveys in astronomy and physics courses. He produces the biennial survey of introductory astronomy textbooks found at the Astronomy Education Review. Dave is also on the advisory board of AER, formerly was on the JCST and AER editorial boards, and is a charter signatory of the Astronomy Education Charter (see AER vol. 6, #2). He has assisted Andy Fraknoi in numerous ASP teacher workshops, moderated the AAS "Black Holes to Blackboards" teacher workshop, assisted at several of the Cosmos in the Classrooms, and is on the organizing committee for the 2007 Cosmos in the Classroom colloquium. Dave also co-organized the Universe expos with the ASP in the early to mid 1990s. A shortened version of his CV is available at his course web site
